FVC Short-listed for NUS Scotland Awards 2015

The Forth Valley College Student Association has been nominated for three awards at the NUS Scotland Awards 2015.

The overall Student Association is up for a prize in the ‘Students’ Unions – Colleges’ category.

Sabbatical President Lorraine Simpson (24, Stirling) has been short-listed in the ‘Officers’ category and Administrator Lynne McClelland (27, Sauchie) has been put forward for the ‘Staff’ award.

Winners will be announced on Friday 20 March at the NUS Scotland National Conference in North Berwick. All submissions will also be put forward into the NUS UK Awards 2015.

“We’re delighted to have been short-listed for three awards at the NUS Scotland Awards 2015.   We have been working really hard to raise the profile of the Student Association and increase engagement with students and it’s fantastic to have this recognised.

“I’m also really pleased that Lynne has been short-listed for an award. Her enthusiasm for the Student Association is evident and her work has been incredible. She has been a great support to me and always takes the time to help our students.”

Jean Duff, Student Services Manager at Forth Valley College nominated Lorraine for an award. She said:

“Lorraine is a champion for the Student Association and has gained respect both in the college and across the sector for her passion for change and ensuring the student voice is heard. She is an inspirational leader and everyone who meets her is impressed by her commitment and ‘can do’ attitude.”
