Book Week Scotland 2018 is approaching! Celebrate books and reading from Monday 19 – Sunday 25 November.
During Book Week, people of all ages and walks of life will come together in libraries, schools, community venues and workplaces to share and enjoy books and reading.
Reading has a significant number of benefits – and no, we’re not talking about reading Tweets, Facebook posts or Instagram captions.
- Mental stimulation
- Stress reduction
- Vocabulary expansion
- Memory improvement
- Better writing skills
These are just a few of the upsides to reading as opposed to sitting in front of a screen.
Over 800 events are being held across Scotland involving authors, poets, storytellers and illustrators to bring projects to life and inspire people to get involved. You can find your nearest events here https://bookweekscotlandevents.com/
As part of Book Week, we have author Claire Askew visiting our Alloa Campus on Friday 23 November from 9.30am until 11.30am. Claire will be talking about her debut novel All the Hidden Truths.
For anyone that needs additional help with reading and writing, we offer literacy and numeracy drop-in sessions which are open to all students at Forth Valley College campuses.
